Last year we ran a High Five Campaign and collected $4883 over a period of 4 months. It was a disappointment.
Now as we know the environment is very volatile and lot of things are going against LEGAL Immigrants i.e US (TARP Employer H-1B Restriction Bill (Sanders Bill)), i will like to request everyone to contribute as much as they can. I will like you to contribute a minimum of $20 dollars.
ALL you need to do is write out a $20 cheque and send it to IV on the address listed.

hope that means they are willing to talk about giving EAD. If we get EAD all the lawsuits will be withdrawn. The law does not say AOS applications should not be accepted when there are no visa numbers available, the law only says AOS cannot be approved when visa numbers are not available. USCIS internal regulations says they will not accept AOS applications when priority date is not current. by now its quite apparent that USCIS has broken a lot of there own internal regulations just to make sure the visa numbers are used up before july 2 2007. Then can easily accomodate the EAD for july filers. It all depends upon the pressure exerted on USCIS and DOS
Pitha -- the law says quite clearly that AOS applications cannot be filed if visa numbers are not available. Which is why IV was trying to get in an amendment that says AOS can be filed even when visa numbers are not available.
USCIS would fight a change in this tooth and nail -- cos as the Ombudsman has reported again and again in his annual reports -- when they spend a huge amount of time churning out EADs and APs, actual adjudications of green cards fall behind. Then there are the people (incl Ombudsman) who say that such interim benefits (EAD AP) should not be granted to such large numbers of people without security checks etc.
My guess is that this is precisely why USCIS didn't want the all current situation. They don't want to be stuck with 700K applications which have no hope of getting a greencard for years upon years, while they churn out EADs and APs for all those years.
Of course, one fix would be to increase the EAD time period to 3 yrs. Something they have been unwilling to do.

I have recently been talking to members who have already filed I485 and have used AC21 to change jobs. I noted some limitations people face while changing jobs, getting higher salaries, making use of AC21 for changing more than 1 job.. etc etc.
It seems there is lack of information on this subject. Let us use this thread to
- share expeiences

Another silent deshi employer here trying to scar H1s not to sue. I guess he created his ID (Join Date: Apr 2008) just for this.
Go and create another website in favour of deshi blood su&^%$rs called reverse-IV.org. Don't try to mock here.
Did you ask Attorney what happens if your employer still choose to Sue you? My friend's attorney told most of cases will be settled, but we might loose money up to 10K. Is it woth it doing? Also if we choose to fight, we might have to attend hearing (may be in different state based on your agreement). I am an employee too, and with you on this. I'd say if attorney guarentees he'll win our case we can go ahead.

SORRY Fellas, I cannot send this out unless the provision for H1b nenewal be added to it. I know IVs main concern is reg the backlogged GC cases, however, I would request that future of the H1b should also be addresed. I now feel that even contributing to the IV was a mistake because you are not taking a broader view of this issue. Please try to include the clauses affecting H1bs also in your letters. Particularly simple technical aspects like renewing H1b beyond the 6 years period is a MUST and one of the things that can be MOST easily achieved if asked for.

I have a unique position. couple of weeks back I was told that have fatal cancer and won't live pass 4-6 months. After recovering from initial shock I am wondering if my wife will be able to continue her american dream or she will have to head home after me.

My 485 application was received by TSC on July 16th. Intrestingly there are threads that are tracking applicaitons from July 2nd to July 13th and July 17 to Aug 17th? What is wrong with 16th? Are there are one with the same receipt date here?

I got an email last night saying EAD card ordered on Sep8 which is a saturday.. This morning I got two emails again saying that same card was ordered on Sep 10. However this is the spouse's ead and I see the lud as 9/10 on 5 of our 485/ead/ap apps. However spouse AP (whose ead was ordered) still has 9/5. I don't understand y they approve one and take time for the other. I think their system has some issues...
Did ur case status say 'ordered' before you got the ead in mail?
